In the 1930s, the already world-renowned filmmaker Eisenstein arrives in Mexico to shoot his opus, but his plans are complicated by conservative Hollywood investors, a restricted travel visa, threats of kidnapping or a forced return to the USSR, and most of all, by the relationship he develops with his local guide. The film mixes an explicit comedy with cinephile masturbation, history and imagination, a story of forbidden love as well as a parable about sex and death. 1930s Korea, in the period of Japanese occupation, a new girl (Sookee) is hired as a handmaiden to a Japanese heiress (Hideko) who lives a secluded life on a large countryside estate with her domineering Uncle (Kouzuki). But the maid has a secret. She is a pickpocket recruited by a swindler posing as a Japanese Count to help him seduce the Lady to elope with him, rob her of her fortune, and lock her up in a madhouse.
